Digital Technology 1 - Week 6 - Camera Raw and Photoshop Exercises

1. I chose a portrait shot at a high ISO and edited it through Adobe Bridge - Camera Raw.

As you can see, I adjusted the "luminance" bar to ease the noise of the photograph and I also adjusted the exposure and contrast to make her stand out from the background.

2. I then created a diptych with two new images and used the same process as the Richard Avedon inspired diptych.

I didn't find this any different to creating the first diptych aside from the content of the photographs and the lighting of each.

Self Directed: Lynda.com Tutorial
Understanding Digital Images and Resizing:

I followed along the Lynda.com tutorials and followed the "8. Resizing" tutorials and followed along with them. The movies were dedicated to clear, simple instructions describing the short and long understandings of accurately resizing an image. There were four images in the downloads folder (from Lynda.com) and I used each of them in photoshop and followed along with the tutorials. Here is the proof:

First photo: Discussing the "Dried Kidney Beans and Paper Plate" metaphor for the image resizing process. To put it simply, you need to make sure there is enough information on your image file ignored to resize it with minimal pixelation and maximum specific detail. We then proceeded to going over the foundation basics of where I can resize an image and how I can do this in Photoshop.

Second photo: Discussing the difference in pixelation and detail and how that changes when the image is resized using a .jpg file.

Third photo: Again, discussing the difference in pixelation and detail and how that changes when the image is resized this time using a .psd file.

Fourth photo: discussing the resample field and the difference in detail and quality between the bicubic, automatic and preserve details options.
