Term 2 - Week 1 - Photographic Genres

Photographic Genres:
Page: http://www.shutha.org/photo-genres

Which genres require more photo retouching?
Why do you think this is?
Creative Genre:
  • Typically "Retail Genre" within this because you are advertising a certain item/product to the world, so it's important to make sure that if you have a photograph of food, that it looks appetising through editing.
  • Also, "Creative Fiction" because this practice is where photographers can manufacture an image  using editing to create a fictitious image which can also appear delusory and artificial.
Can you think of any photographers who fit into an editorial genre?  Which editorial genre do they fit into?  What approach do they take to their style of photography?  (B&W/colour/formal/raw/etc)

  • Cartier Brisson : Street photography in editorial style changing the colour to Black and White in post-production editing.
takes candid photographs (street photography and natural environment photography).
