Term 2 - Week 1 - Portfolio Research

It's important to note that I will not be photographing children who are not fully clothed. It's vital that I remind everyone that I am utterly against the sexualisation or exploitation of minors. The artist models I use are merely inspiration for reasons other than nudity and are not presented as a directory.

Self Directed Task - ARTIST MODELS THROUGH DIGITAL MEDIA

The following posts under each title I have found relate to my idea and theme for my portfolio.
I have explained underneath each link how and why these artist models are my artist models.

its nice that:

I like this post because i feel it relates to what Im aiming for in my portfolio. The photographer is taking a different approach to a fashion shoot than what you usually see on billboards or in a magazine. I like how the bare skin of the model is the most prominent focus of the shoot. Not only is it interesting to look at but I feel as though it relates to what I'm aiming for in my portfolio when it comes to looking at the facial features and skin details of my models.

This shoot is absolutely amazing! I loved every single photograph. This isn't only inspiration for my portfolio but just inspiration in general for me as an aspiring photographer. I really liked the connection the model seemed to have with the camera throughout the shoot. I definitely consider this photoshoot as something that I should aim for when directing my models in terms of the models portraying that feeling through their looks. I think it adds a large amount of necessary depth to a photograph in order to achieve true artistry.

When I watched this, I felt that the only way I could really relate to this post photographically was through the fact that we are both shooting people. But in saying that, I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the film in its entirety and the cinematography; it was rather pale and full of the city and outdoors. The whole city vibe and no screwing around attitude that the photographer and this episode contained really spoke to me because I take my shoots seriously as well. I think I can relate this artist model to my work through the attitude of the photographer and the "natural environment" clips he videoed of the city and its people.

A Photo Editor

This photographer is basically doing what I want to do in terms of content. I like the "personal environment" that each model is surrounded by and the fact that a lot of them seem unaware that their photo is being taken. This is what I want to experiment with and aim for in my next few photoshoots. I also like how the photographer has paid close attention to detail in the skin and its texture plus the fantastic use of depth of field in each photograph. It appears as though each aspect of each photograph has been carefully planned before the shot was taken.

I also like this post for similar reasons to that of the "A Photo Editor" 's post. In terms of content, again, I feel as though this post shows what I want to do in terms of keeping my model in an environment that represents who they are. Seeing as I now want to work just with young girls, I plan on keeping the environments appropriate in comparison with the children.

The photos of these children are so beautiful that they almost look, to me, fictitious. These relate to my theme through content because I want to work with young children. This is the only way this post relates to my portfolio theme. Apart from that, I love the photos this photographer has taken no less, but the photos are look almost magical and I have a hard time resonating with these photographs on a deep level because they look so edited and not that natural. On those terms, I want to create the opposite effect with my work; I want it to be completely natural and portray honesty rather than magic.
